Panos Kouros is artist and art theorist, Professor for Art in Architecture at the University of Patras. His research focuses on contemporary public art, archive art and performance, ruin aesthetics and politics of memory, institutional critique, education as art project. His works establish platforms and scenaria for dialogical-archival actions in specific urban situations and institutional contexts. They have been extensively published and presented in many art venues in the US, Greece, Germany, Mexico, China, Italy, UK and other countries; among other, in 9th (2004) and 12th (2010) Venice Architecture Biennale, Biennale of Sao Paolo (Urban Void collective 2007), University of Kassel in conjunction with Doumenta 12 (2007), MIT Museum (2018). He has proposed the idea of performative archiving action, which he developed in a series of art projects, as well as in research programs such as Archive Public (2012, Carathéodory basic research program, University of Patras) and Skulptur Projekte Münster Archiv (2018). He has been Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS), MIT, at the Institute of Cultural Studies and the Department of Musicology and Media Science at Humboldt University. He is co-founder of Gregorios Pharmakis plural person and member of Urban Void urban action collective. He taught at the Department of Architecture, MIT and other Universities. He has a PhD in ruin aesthetics. He has published articles and research papers on contemporary art in scientific journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. Ο Γιάννης Παπαδόπουλος είναι εικαστικός, έχει σπουδάσει Μαθηματικά και Εικαστικά στην Ελλάδα και την Ολλανδία. Διδάσκει στο τμήμα Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Πάτρας και Τυπογραφία/Τέχνη του Βιβλίου στην ΑΣΚΤ, ενώ έχει εργαστεί ως ερευνητής και επισκέπτης καθηγητής στην Royal Academy of Arts, Antwerp στο Βέλγιο και AKV St. Joost στην Ολλανδία και υπότροφος του Φλαμανδικού Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού. Πρόσφατα έχει παρουσιάσει την δουλειά του στο βραβείο Δεστε 2015, Extra City Kunsthall 2014.

Yiannis Papadopoulos is an artist. He has studied Mathematics and Fine Arts in Greece and in the Netherlands. He is currently teaching at the Department of Architecture, University of Patras and at Typography/Artist’s Book, Athens School of Fine Arts. He has worked as researcher and guest teacher at the Royal Academy of Arts, Antwerp Belgium and AKV St. Joost, the Netherlands. He was granted from the Flemish Ministry of Culture. Recently his work was shown in Deste prize 2015, Extra City Kunsthall 2014.




Art/Architecture in the Public Sphere at the Department of Architecture, University of Patras.

Teaching and research takes into consideration:

- the archival turn in contemporary art: towards the document, the archive and knowledge production
- the social turn: art practice in social spaces
- extra-disciplinary investigations in art and architecture
- dialogical, collective and relational practices
- the field of intervention actions in the public spheres
- the operation of education inside the art project
- the urban context of Patras through topical works and transtopical networks

Η διδασκαλία και έρευνα της τέχνης στην αρχιτεκτονική παίρνει υπόψη τα εξής:

- την αρχειακή στροφή της σύγχρονης τέχνης: προς το ντοκουμέντο, το αρχείο και την παραγωγή γνώσης.
- την κοινωνική στροφή: πρακτικές τέχνης σε κοινωνικούς χώρους.
- εξω-τομεακές (extra-disciplinary) διερευνήσεις στην τέχνη και αρχιτεκτονική.
- διαλογικές, συλλογικές και σχεσιακές πρακτικές.
- το πεδίο παρεμβατικών δράσεων στις δημόσιες σφαίρες.
- την ενσωμάτωση της εκπαίδευσης μέσα στο πρότζεκτ τέχνης.
- το αστικό περιβάλλον της Πάτρας μέσα από τοπικές εργασίες και διατοπικά δίκτυα.
